Arliss I. Utke of Tomah went to her eternal home to be with her Savior and Lord Jesus on Saturday, April 21, 2012. She was born March 29, 1915, to Frank and Alma (Schultz) Zimmerman of Tomah. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church by Rev. J. Glaeser. On July 8, 1939, she was united in marriage to Raymond R. Utke. To this union two children were born, Robert Ray and Carol Ann. Arliss and Ray enjoyed 58 years of marriage before he preceded her in death in 1998. Arliss was a much loved teacher in the Monroe County and Tomah School system. She was a member of St. Paul’s Mission Circle and Ruth Circle. She was also active in the Monroe County Retired Teachers Association and Tomah Helping Hand Society. She is survived by a son Bob (Brigitte) Utke of Tomah and their children Chris (Karyl) Utke of Tomah and Rayann (Rick) Schilling of Holmen. Also survived by her daughter Carol (Rick) Stivers of Arlington Hts, IL and their children Mike (Dawn) Beaver of Arlington Hts, IL, Matt (Amanda) Beaver of Indianapolis, IN, Kristi (Adam) Carlson of San Francisco, CA and Katie (Wilson) Matheson of Arlington, VA. Also surviving Arliss are nine great grandchildren, Kristopher and Casey Utke; Braden and Kira Beaver; Jacob, Caleb, Becca, and Leah Schilling and Ruby Carlson. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Paul School are preferred.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 3:00 P.M. at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, 525 Superior Ave., Tomah. Pastor Donald R. Buch will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday at the church from 2:00 P.M. until the time of the service.
