Harley M. Chambers, 90 of Wilton, died Sunday, March 10, 2013 at the Morrow Memorial Home, Sparta. He was born on August 23, 1922 to William and Sarah (Bever) Chambers in Cashton, WI. He was a graduate of the Wilton High School. Harley proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army serving during WWII. On October 18, 1952 Harley was united in marriage to Kathleen Rice at St. John Catholic Church, Wilton. Together they have lived in the Wilton area all their married life. Harley took over the family farm, retiring in 2002. For 2 terms, Harley served as the Town of Wilton, Chairman. He was a faithful and devoted member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and also a member of the Hanson-Stark-Leith-Paeth American Legion Post #508. Harley was a hard working man who took great pride in his farm and working the land. He enjoyed watching the season pass and planning the upcoming years work. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen of Wilton, 4 children, James Chambers of Mauston, Richard Chambers of Columbus, WI, Christopher (Diane) Chambers of Wilton and Mary (Richard) Skolos of Kendall, 6 grandchildren, Tasha (Joe) Bialkowski of Waunakee, Jessica and Jason Chambers of La Crosse, Brandon Skolos of Kendall, Jared Chambers of Wilton, and McKenzie Skolos of Kendall, 2 great grandchildren, Wrigley and Tori Bialkowski both of Waunakee, a sister, Geraldine Schindler of Rockford, IL, a sister-in-law, Marian Bohac of Tomah, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson Joshua Chambers, and 4 siblings, Alton, Delbert, Shirley and William.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2013, 11:00 A.M. at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, Wilton. Father Richard C. Dickman will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military honors by Hanson-Stark-Leith-Paeth American Legion Post #508. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday at the church from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and on Thursday at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Online condolences may be given at www.sonnenburgfamilyfh.com . The Smith-Nelson Funeral Home, Wilton is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial are given to the Wilton Area Veterans Memorial, P.O. Box 311, Wilton, WI 54670.
